Used to refer to a nation ruled by an emperor.
Imperial Palace – 황궁
ALSO: Palace
(Romanized: hwang-goong)
Used to refer to the residence in which the ruling family lives in. It is also used to refer to the ruling family’s stance.
TIP: The Imperial Palace can be considered the same way countries refer to the stance of their current administration. It is like how news outlets will share news from the U.S. government as, “The White House is __”.
Imperial Banquet – 황궁 연회
(Romanized: hwang-goong yeon-hoe)
Used to refer to events and/or celebrations held at the Imperial Palace.
Kingdom – 왕국
(Romanized: wang-guk)
Used to refer to a nation ruled by a king.
Principality – 공국 (Hanja: 公國)
ALSO: Kingdom, Dukedom, Duchy
(Romanized: gong-guk)
Used to refer to a nation where the status of the reigning monarch is that of a prince and/or princess rather than an emperor (empire) or king (kingdom). In some cases, they are also called dukedoms, but unlike most duchies, this type of nation has its own sovereignty, whereas a more “traditional” duchy would still swear allegiance to an emperor or king.
